Trail Cleanup Day

Annual Trail Cleanup Day Draws Record Volunteers

This year's Annual Trail Cleanup Day was our biggest yet, with over 80 volunteers turning out to help restore and maintain the trails throughout Bridle Trails State Park. Armed with rakes, gloves, and plenty of enthusiasm, members and community supporters spent the morning clearing debris, repairing drainage, and refreshing trail markers across the north and south loops.

"It's incredible to see so many people come out and give their time," said event coordinator Linda Marsh. "The trails belong to all of us — riders, hikers, families — and days like this remind us what community really means."

The club provided tools, water stations, and a post-cleanup barbecue for all participants. A special thank-you goes out to our sponsors and to every volunteer who made the day possible.

New Trail Section

New Trail Section Opens This Spring

We are thrilled to announce the opening of a new 1.2-mile trail section connecting the east meadow loop to the creek crossing at Marker 14. The new section was developed in partnership with the state parks authority and features a widened, well-graded surface suitable for both equestrian and foot traffic.

The project was two years in the making, requiring environmental review, volunteer labour, and fundraising efforts from the club. Native plantings have been added along the corridor to enhance the natural character of the route and support local wildlife habitat.

Members are encouraged to explore the new section and share feedback. Trail maps have been updated and are available at the trailhead kiosk and on the club website.

Community Grant

Club Awarded Community Grant for Trail Preservation

Bridle Trails Community Club has been awarded a $15,000 community grant from the King County Parks Foundation to support ongoing trail preservation efforts. The grant will fund drainage improvements, new signage, and the installation of two new rest areas along the main loop.

The application was prepared by club treasurer David Okafor and board member Susan Keller, who worked closely with the foundation over several months to demonstrate the trail system's value to the wider community.

"This funding is a real vote of confidence in what we're building here," said club president Renee Walsh. "We'll put every dollar to work on the ground." Work is expected to begin in late summer and be completed before the fall season.
